Participation is open to all US high school students of all levels who are able to physically travel to Berkeley Lab to participate in the event on May 2, 2026. Participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements. Some parking will be available.
You must apply and be accepted in order to participate. The application form is here and applications close March 27. Admission decisions will be distributed in mid-April.
No specific math or physics background is required!
The Masterclass is free! You just need to get yourself to Berkeley Lab.
If you are aged 18 or over on the date of the Masterclass, you must bring a government-issued REAL ID or passport (from any country) to access the Berkeley Lab site. If you are 17 or younger on the date of the Masterclass, you must bring your school ID.
Yes, there is a small parking lot near the building where the Masterclass will take place. Volunteers will be present to help with directions.
Yes, Ubers and Lyfts will be allowed to drop you off on-site.
Lunch and a light breakfast will be provided, and dietary restrictions of admitted participants will be accommodated!
No, we will provide laptops for the activity with the required software already installed.
